Vegas After 50 – Why Downtown might be the place for you!

Don’t Get me wrong, I love the strip, the glitz and glamour.   But the walking can be overwhelming.  By the time you get to the sidewalk from your resort you could be very tempted to turn around.

Vegas has so much to see in so little time that if you’re over 50, I think that downtown is a site seeing adventure not to be missed.  Also there are some great hotel deals available without the resort fees.

The First Thing to Pack for Vacation – Don’t leave home without it!

There’s always something we forget when traveling, but here is one thing you’ve probably never thought about but should buy and keep in your suitcase.  This one item will make your days smoother, less stressed and will help everyone have a great vacation.  Who would have thought this item could bring so much joy to such a variety of people.

On one of our trip to Vegas,  I noticed how much technology me and my husband packed.  The conversation went something like this:

Are you bringing your  tablet?

Yes, but I need my laptop also.  I need to bring my tablet for the plane,  my laptop for doing some updates to my shop and get my emails that don’t go to my phone.  I also need my Nano so that I can have some music.

For 2 people that was 2 tablets, 1 laptop & 1 nano as well as 2 cell phones and chargers for each of these items.  With all the headphones one of our carry on bags was half full.   I also travel with my CPAP machine so that my snoring is contained.  You won’t be asked back to the relatives if no one can sleep because you are so loud.

If you have kids, especially teens that’s usually a cell phone for each of them.    They are so necessary to stay connected when everyone wants to go in different directions.  When we are in Vegas,  my husband likes to stay at the home casino, I like to shop and flitter through other casinos to absorb the atmosphere.   Usually I can be gone 2-3 hours before he even remembers I was there!  So when he remembers me he calls to see where and when we’ll be eating.

But what I realized when we got to the Hotel was there are never enough outlets to plug everything in so that it gets charged!  I mean we were just 2 people, but what if you get tired of winning (or losing) money in the casino?  What happens if you go one place and your significant other or kids go another?  Your cell phones use a lot of juice pinging back and forth.  It always seems that it gets low when you need it.

So what is this thing you must pack …a powerstrip, preferably one with surge protection.  You can get basic ones with for about $10.00 for a pack of two.  Since most hotels only have 2 or 3 outlets available, these will quadruple your charging ability.  It will allow you charge all of your phones during your sleep so that you can have them available most of the day.  You have to remember that many apps use your navigation system to keep track of where you are.  That takes a great deal of energy when you’re away from your home area.

Don't Leave Home without it!

This saves a lot of fights about who’s plugged in and who unplugged my phone before it was fully charged.  With the power strip everyone can plug there phone in while sleeping and it’ll be ready for the adventure the next day.  When you’re out you can plug in your tablets or whatever and they will be ready and waiting when you settle in for the night to play a game, watch Netflix or call you loved ones.

This is the best investment you can make in creating a less stressful vacation especially on that travel day, whether in the car or on the plane, the new technology is what we use to escape from everyday as well as keep us grounded during a vacation.  Get yours now and just tuck them into the suitcase for your next vacation.  You’ll be glad that you did!
